Brisbane Cemeteries

Brisbane offeres 12 cemeteries and three crematoria catering for burials, cremations and memorials for ashes. The Hemmant, Mt Gravatt and Pinnaroo cemeteries offer a range of burial and funeral options. The remaining nine cemeteries are historic sites with limited burial options

Hemmant Cemetery

Brisbane City Council's Hemmant Cemetery and Crematorium is set amongst eucalypt trees and wattles. It is located in Brisbane's bayside, next to the Fleming Road Reserve. This site is rich in social history and many of our pioneers rest there.

Mt Gravatt Cemetery

Mt Gravatt Cemetery opened in 1918, with the crematorium opened in 1999. It sits amongst nearly 80 hectares of native bushland, alongside the Toohey State Forest.

Pinaroo Cemetery

Brisbane City Council's Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery was established in 1962 at Bridgeman Downs on Brisbane's northside.

Pinnaroo neighbours a scenic watercourse and its natural bushland houses many native animals.

Toowong Cemetery

Toowong Cemetery is a Brisbane icon and was once the city's main cemetery.

While the Toowong Cemetery officially opened in 1875, some burials took place from 1871. The most notable burial was Queensland's second governor, Colonel Samuel Blackall.
